Review - The Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis

Two Men Are One Too Many . . .

Tara has a thousand good reasons not to return to the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington. Yet with her life doing a major crash-and-burn, anywhere away from her unfulfilled dreams and sexy ex-husband will do. As Tara helps her two sisters get their newly renovated inn up and running, she finally has a chance to get things under control and come up with a new plan for her life.

But a certain tanned, green-eyed sailor has his own ideas, such as keeping Tara hot, bothered . . . and in his bed. And when her ex wants Tara back, three is a crowd she can't control-especially when her deepest secret reappears out of the blue. Now Tara must confront her past and discover what she really wants. If she's lucky, she might just find that everything her heart desires is right here in Lucky Harbor.

I finished this novel late last night and am so excited to share it with all of your, lovely readers. Unfortunately, that means I missed the last date in the blog tour. I guess this is an encoure review post! This was the first book from author Jill Shalvis I have read, but I will be going back to read more. It is actually the 2nd book in the Lucky Harbor Series. The first book is Simply Irresistible. Each of the books focus on one of the 3 sisters.

As I say many times on my blog, I am a busy mom and my time is very valuable. If I sit down to read a book it needs to grab me within the first few pages. This book grabbed on the very first page! I loved  Jill Shalvis' writing style, and characters. Tara Daniels, the main character, was a little like me ... not as fun-loving as her sisters,  a controlling type-A personality, referred to as the Steel Magnolia, but honest and real. I loved her interaction in the first chapter with Mrs. Taylor and the muffins. I have worked several food service jobs in the past and could relate to her biting her tongue and being as polite as she could with a difficult person.

This book was both easy to read and funny! I love my romantic novels to have witty quotes and creative quips.  Phrases like, "Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit" brought a smile to my face. . And then there is the steamy romance! Oh, yes, this also made me smile. It is a completely toe-curling, foot-popping, edge-of-your-seat experience. I am surprised this book doesn't just combust from all that passion. Well written, it drew me in and honestly, I wasn't sure who I wanted Tara to be with.

So, why should you read this book? The 348 pages will fly by, and it might just be the perfect cure for those rainy spring days or to slip in your beach bag this summer. Enjoy!
