Melt Buttery Spread #Review & $500 Visa Gift Card Giveaway

Do you like butter?

Oh, come on,... admit it. Melted on fresh steamed corn, spread on warm toast or creamed in a baked good, butter can add flavor, richness and creamy goodness to foods. The downside? It isn't that good for you. And the guilt? Well, that is enough to keep me searching for a better spread.

It is no secret that I love, love, love to bake! Baked goods use butter.

In attempt to make my sinful treats and butter craving veggies a bit healthier, I tried a butter substitute, Melt buttery spread.

Melt is made of virgin coconut oil, flax seed oil, palm fruit oil and canola oil. "At Last, Good Fat!"

It boasts that you can bake with it, melt it and top your favorite foods with it. Better yet, it's organic, gluten free, cholesterol free, carb free, soy free, has no trans fats and is certified kosher. Sounds pretty good to me!

Okay, so it sounds good, but I bet you are wondering if it really holds up to all those claims. I think we have all tried "healthy" foods that fall a little flat in the taste department, right?

Well, I was lucky enough to receive a Melt sample to review and did my best to put it through the paces in my kitchen. I baked a batch of Whoopie Pies for my children, tried the spread melted on steamed veggies as well as spread it on fresh bread right out of the oven.

I was sent the Melt buttery spread, a handy spreader and a handy conversion magnet.

The spread is very soft. I recommend keeping it in the fridge until you need it because on the counter it will become soft very quickly. My favorite part of this is it doesn't tear bread! Okay, maybe it is me but many spreads are hard right from the fridge and will tear a delicate fresh baked slice of bread. It will also melt immediately on corn on the cob. Mmmm...

I liked the taste also. It is mild, but I did taste a hint of the coconut oil in it. That was a real bonus because I adore coconut and bake with coconut oil often.

I really enjoyed trying out the Melt spread. It was smooth, tasty and melted like a dream. Unfortunately I haven't seen it in my local stores yet, but keep your eye out for Melt in your local grocery store.

Check out Melt's site for more information about Healthy cooking oils and information about healthy gluten free butter.
