Oh Baby Baby Hop - $30 GC #Giveaway

Oh Baby Baby Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Oh Baby Baby Giveaway Hop hosted by The Shopping Duck! After entering this giveaway, be sure to enter the Grand Prize Giveaway where you can win a prize pack worth over $250 or an $80 Babies R Us Gift Card! Each participating blogger is also hosting a prize worth at least $25. Be sure to visit each participating blog listed in the linky below and enter to win!

I was a proud cloth diapering Mama with my two children. I loved trying new brands, finding new fabrics and sharing my love of fluff with our friends.

We went through a lot of fluff in 4 years. The first thing I learned was there is no perfect cloth diaper. Babies come in so many sizes. I found different brands that worked best for each of my children. My son was long and thin, while his sister was shorter and rounder.

In honor of the diverse stash of cloth diaper brands that I love, I am giving away a Gift Certificate to Kelly's Closet for $30 so you can find something to perfectly fit your baby.

Kelly's Closet is one of my favorite online shops to browse. They have everything to get you started from prefolds to all in ones, diaper sprayers to swim diapers. They offer great sales and if you look around, you might even qualify for a free diaper!

Giveaway Time!!
One lucky reader will win a $30 Gift Certificate to use at kellyscloset.com. Giveaway ends April 15th. Enter on the rafflecopter form below.

Spice Up Your PAR-TAY - With #FarmRichSnacks

Now that Spring is in the air I always feel the need to get our friends over for a good party. Anytime of year is the right time for a party, but warmer weather for me means longer nights, backyard BBQ s and friends.

But there is no need to settle for the same old party this year. Why not Spice it up?

It all comes down to food for me. I love offering my guests a wide variety of finger-friendly items to munch on. Nothing too bulky or messy because I want to keep the guests moving and talking. But, every good party needs some delicious food.

Take the old favorites and kick them up a notch!
  • Hot Sauce - Make a big tray of nachos in the oven piled with all the goodies, from olives, black beans, jalapenos and cheese. Have a couple bottles of hot sauce handy so guests can add their own preferred level of heat. Make sure you always have a mild option, but also have a few choices available if your guests dare.
  • Garlic - Peppers are not the only way to add heat to a dish. Try extra diced garlic in your bruschetta dip to bring up the flavor.
  • Salsa - Everyone's favorite condiment can be mild or hot depending on the potency of the onions and the peppers used. I always think fresh has the most kick, but let your flavors meld for an hour or two to really bring out the heat. Serve with tortilla chips, toasted bread, pita or lettuce leaves.
  • Red Pepper Flakes - These handy little heat bursts can be added to your favorite spinach dip or even deviled eggs to bring up the spiciness.
  • BBQ Sauce - Depending on the BBQ sauce you use, you can turn up the heat on wings and meat by looking for a sauce with more pepper and chili.
  • Wasabi - If sushi is your favorite, don't forget to add a pile of green wasabi to the serving platter to fire up the taste buds.

Be warned... if you dare your guests to some spicy fare be sure to have bread or milk handy if the fire gets to be too much. Your guests will appreciate an easy way to put out the heat.

Another fabulous way to add some spice to your spread is to offer your guests new Farm Rich Queso Cheese Bites.

Farm Rich Queso Cheese Bites can deliver just the right amount of spice to keep your party going! They are creamy white, queso-filled, breaded, bite-sized happiness, with just the perfect amount of heat. Ready in minutes, they are great for adding to a party, simple snacking or as a side. They have just 180 calories and 0 grams trans fat per serving and are sure to delight everyone's taste buds. Pick yours up at Walmart or any other Farm Rich retailer.

I have tried the Queso Cheese Bites and did enjoy the kick! Unlike other breaded cheese snacks, I didn't even reach for the ketchup. They were creamy and flavorful enough on their own.

Even though I love cooking for my friends and family, for large parties I always like to have some pre-made frozen options on hand. Have some ready when your friends arrive and keep another bag or two in the freezer ready to be baked fresh as needed. This lowers the amount of time I have to spend in the kitchen and lets me enjoy my time as a hostess.

Right now, through May 4th, Farm Rich is inviting fans to enter for a chance to win a $3,500 “Fiesta Grande” in their Pesos 4 Quesos Facebook contest. Register and play to win weekly prizes or take home the grand prize. Also by reaching certain levels in the game you can win coupons for your own bag of Queso Cheese Bites. The game is fun, easy and slightly addicting! Have fun and good luck.

Now that I shared my tips for spicing up a party, I want to hear your thoughts. How do you put a little spice into your own parties? What are your tips or tricks?

Fashion Trend Revival Gone Wrong - Mohawks & Mullets #BlogDare

Source: google.ca via Braun on Pinterest

Just when I thought it was safe to go into a store, I was hit by a barrage of mullets and mohawks on my last grocery trip.

Please say it ain't so!

Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks is sporting a mullet these days. But so are the locals around me. How can a bad trend like this creep back into a intelligent society?

While grocery shopping this week, just inside the door I spied several children with mohawks. Mullets of varying degrees were also noted. In front of the butter section I was quite mesmerized by a 60-year old man sporting a very wild and curly mohawk. My husband pointed out how clean the sides were. To me it was still a mohawk.

So, what is next? Will Aqua Net take over the hair industry? Will high bangs and highly flammable coiffures be next to make a come-back?

So what fashion crimes have you seen popping back up?

From the Farm to Our Table - #TropFloridaOJ

The importance of bringing farm fresh foods to the table is well understood by my family. My husband is a farmer. He puts his heart and soul into what he grows because it is what we feed to our family.

We may grow the vegetables that we eat and collect our own eggs, but luckily you don't have to. There are great ways you can enjoy your own local farm fresh food in the community you live in.

Find out what your area known for. With the warmer weather comes back the seasonal farmer's markets. Look around, meet the growers in your area and get to know what is available. You might be surprised what the people around you have for sale. You may find everything from the best fingerling potatoes to local honey.

Check with local farms to find out if they offer U-pick options. Not only is it an inexpensive way to bring fresh produce to your table, but it is also a great way to get the whole family involved with your food. We love picking our own Strawberries and can't wait to get out with our buckets soon. I will freeze our extra berries so we can enjoy them year-round.

With the rise of urban chicken coops, fresh eggs might be closer to you than you think. Ask around. I always have a surplus and know many chicken enthusiast who are happy to sell their excess bounty.

Of course, I can't buy all of our food locally. We don't grow citrus in Oregon. Luckily, Tropicana Pure Premium is 100% Pure Florida Orange Juice and it is readily available at the grocery store. This puts my mind at ease.

When I think of orange juice, I immediately think of Tropicana. The company is committed to using the best fruit to produce a great product with the nutrition my family needs. Each 59oz container of Tropicana Pure Premium® has 16 fresh-picked Florida oranges squeezed into it and an 8oz glass gives you 100% vitamin C to help you maintain a healthy immune system. And should I add, my family loves it?

Looking at pictures of the Florida orange groves reminds me of our orchards. I understand the pride that goes into making a great tasting product. Sweet and satisfying, it is a great addition to our breakfast routine.

So what makes Tropicana Pure Premium Blend such a great juice?

By combining two major orange types, Valencia and Hamlin the juice combines both of their best characteristics. Valencias typically have a more intense color and flavor, while Hamlins add a sweetness into the mix. This all adds to the unique taste of the Tropicana Pure Premium blend.

Head over to Tropicana's Facebook page and enter the Tropicana Perfect Pick Sweepstakes.

From now until April 20th, Facebook fan can enter for a chance to WIN a trip to Sarasota, Florida to visit a real orange grove. Other winners will receive a one-year supply (12 coupons) of Tropicana Premium 100% Pure Florida Orange Juice. That is a chance at 100 Florida prizes! For more details head over to www.Facebook.com/Tropicana.  Good luck!

Thirsty yet?

Fresh local produce always makes me hungry. Why not wash down your local fare with a ice cold glass of Tropicana? How do you bring the farm to your table? I would love to hear your tips in the comment section below.

Get Ready for Summer with Imperial Toys! #Review

Summer means one thing at our house ...cool toys!

To prepare for the heat, I like to turn up the fun by keeping my kids stocked with fun outdoor toys. Bubbles and water balloons are always a big hit, so when our box of toys from Imperial Toys arrived we were thrilled!

We were sent 4 toys to try out, The Cyclops Water Balloon Launcher, a Bubble Turbine, Hi-Beam Illuminator Bubble Blaster, and a Tie Not Filler with 50 Water Bombs.

With the temperature dropping this past week, we looked over the water balloon supplies, but decided to leave that for a warmer day. Instead we tore into the bubble toys!

The Hi-Beam Illuminator Bubble Blaster was a big hit!

It comes with the gun, bubbles, two packets of activators and a stick to stir it with. I opened up the bubbles and added in both a packet of "A" powder and "B" powder then stirred as directed. The bubble gun requires batteries, but once turned on it glows and pumps the glowing bubble solution (which is screwed onto the gun) through the gun and out as bubbles. Very cool!

It is hard to see in the pictures, but the bubbles are glowing orange! This impressed my kids. Just keep the gun aimed away from faces, wall and clothing or your children will glow for the rest of the evening.

My daughter's favorite was the Bubble Turbine.

With a switch out plate to either create large bubbles like this, or hundreds of small bubbles this also required batteries to get the fan blowing. It was easy enough for my youngest to play with. She was quite adept at creating the bubbles,

...and also chasing them. Who can resist popping a big bubble or two?

I can't wait to try out the water balloon toys. Just trying out the Tie Not Filler on my garden hose made me long for warmer days. The Tie Not will make water balloon wars easy by providing an easy area to put the balloon on and and easy way to tie it off.

There are more great toy ideas at Imperial Toys. Check out this YouTube clip of their Tie-Not KAOS Battle Pump:

Stay up-to-date with all of Imperial Toys fun by liking their Facebook Page.

My favorite part of childhood was getting to play outside. I am excited to share these toys with my kids to encourage their getting out and just being kids. I plan to check out more of the Imperial Toy lines. And I may even have to get a few for myself. Armed with water balloons and bubbles, I know this Summer is going to be great!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Mom Blog Society. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

If the world was your market, what would you choose?

Novica allows you just that. Their online store allows shoppers a chance to buy from artist ans artisans around the globe. Take a peek and find items for your home or unique gifts, at great value and beautiful.

Whether it is a birthday, or upcoming Mother's Day .... hint, hint... there is something for everyone's tastes.

Browse through Jade NecklacesAmethyst Dangle Earrings, Garnet Dangle Earrings, Amber Earrings, Silver Pendant Necklaces, Wrap Bacelets, Wool Shawls, Alpaca Wool Sweaters, Women's Cardigan Sweaters, Alpaca Sweaters, and more! All are hand crafted items to treasure.

Browsing through the site I was drawn to the Talavera ceramic plates from Mexico.

My husband had a chance to travel to the factory when he was younger and it left quite an impression on him. So out of all the beautiful items offered on the site, I chose this plate. I think my husband was quite surprised and I think it is beautiful.

After placing my order I received a confirmation that it had been shipped from Mexico. Shipping ceramics always makes me nervous but it arrived very well packed and ready for any mishap the journey could throw at it.

I don't think a review item has ever arrived so well packed!

The plate is so beautiful and vibrant, I love it. It will be featured front and center at my next dinner party. The shopping experience with Novica was simple and smooth. I not only recommend  the site, but will not hesitate to use it again in the future.

Loobalee - Kids' Clothing Resale Made Easy! #Giveaway

My children seem to have a growth spurt every week!

Keeping both of them in well fitting, cute clothes is expensive. I have a son and daughter, so I try to hand-me-down simple play clothes, but usually I just end up with bags of barely used clothing and two little people needing new duds. LoobaLee is a great option for Moms like me. I can find great deals and also sell the outfits my children have grown out of.

The site is easy to use, and free. Sign-up only took me a few minutes. Check it out for yourself on Loobalee.com and put me down (notimeMom) as your referral. All the bloggers participating in this review campaign are vying for the most traffic. If I win, I will be able to get some more clothing for my ever-growing kiddos. I would love your support and like I said, it doesn't cost anything to try out.

The site allows you to search by size, category or even seller. So, once I found an item I wanted for my daughter, a cute little Gymboree dress, I could search for other items from the same seller to help me save on shipping costs. Luckily, the same seller had a pair of adorable leggings in my daughter's size.

If you love Gymboree as much as I do, they also offer assistance with Gymboree lines. When listing, the lines can be selected from the drop-down menu and lines can also be searched by shoppers. Nice, right?

There were multiple payment options available and Loobalee is a safe site protecting both buyer and seller and backing it up with their custom return policy. Payments go through Paypal, but non-paypal options are available at check-out. My order arrived promptly and I was very excited to try it on my daughter.

I was impressed enough that I plan on selling some of my extra items soon and shopping again for my children. Some of Loobalee's other highlights are:

  • Free Listings - no hidden fees for photos, etc.
  • Wide Selection - 1,100 brands are currently listed for infant to tween, but there are plans for more categories to be added later.
  • Fully Moderated site with "caring" customer care services
  • Shopping Cart Reserve - Members can hold the items for up to 3 hours, and guests for 30 minutes. This cuts down on buying pressure.
  • Mom to Mom selling - make the most of your dollar and recycle what you don't need anymore.

Loobalee has 2 contests running in March (till 3/31)
  • "March Madness" daily deals, March 1 -31.  One designer New With Tags item offered at a deep discount daily ($1-$5).  (Valued at $20 - $120)  See Home Page
  • Pin to Win Contest - Open March 1 - 31.  Participants can win a $350 children's wardrobe for spring.  $250 in gift cards to favorite store (choose from GapKids/BabyGap, Tea Collection, miniBoden, Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, and Polarn O. Pyret) + $100 to spend on LoobaLee between April 1 and September 30, 2012.  See Home Page

Giveaway Time!!

One lucky reader in the U.S. will have a chance to win a  $15 Visa Gift Card and a $15 Loobalee reimbursement. Since you will need an account if you win, why not sign up now and start looking around. List 'notimeMom' as your referral, please.

DailyBuzz Moms 9x9: Planting with Kids

Spring is in the air and that means it is time for our family to start planting!

My love of gardening started from watching my Mother. Her passion for growing was contagious. She was so proud of her zucchini, every bean we picked and the monstrous rhubarb. I want to ignite the same interest in my own children. So gardening is a family affair.

Living on a farm doesn't hurt, either.

Planting seeds is an exciting way to learn gardening and make a connection with the land and it's resources. I love to observe how much the seeds grow daily and guess what the mature plants will look like. What do broccoli seedlings look like? How fast will the lettuce be ready to put on the table. All of these questions are perfect to spark a child's imagination.

We planted 2 trays of seedlings. It was a mix of herbs and vegetables to be transplanted into our backyard garden in another month. I love having my little helpers see every step of the process from seed to our garden and then eventually our table.

Gardening with young children is simple and fun. To get started you will need:
  • A Dirt Positive Attitude - kids will get messy when they have both dirt and water - mud happens. Luckily they are washable and so are their clothes. Have them dress appropriately and then turn them loose!
  • Dirt - The dirt you use for planting seeds is your choice. There are two great options, either bagged planting mix or planting discs. The discs expand when you add water and they will sit in open trays easily. The discs are easy for young children to use and are fun to watch expand when wet. I usually use the loose mix though, because it will fill more trays and is more cost effective. Both are sterile and will give you better results than backyard dirt.
  • Trowels - Each of my children have their own and it helps to keep them busy. You can pick up the simple plastic versions at any garden center inexpensively.
  • Seed Trays - Your local garden center will have a wide variety, some kits even come with the seeds and soil included. Covers are handy for the trays to keep proper humidity, but kitchen wrap or a plastic vegetable bag can do in a pinch. You can  look around your home for more creative options for growing your seedlings. Egg cartons can be reused, as can toilet paper rolls or even rolled newsprint. Just be sure your plants have proper drainage and have a tray underneath to catch excess water.
  • An Under Tray Heater or a Heat Source - Place your trays in a warm window or warmer room in the house. If your region is colder this time of year, try a seedling heater that will go under your tray. Seeds need both warmth and moisture to germinate.
  • A Selection of Seeds - Larger seeds like Tomato or Swiss Chard are easier for small hands to pick up. Lettuce seeds, on the other hand, are so tiny they can be lost or too many can be planted at once. It is also nice to plant a variety of new plants and the kids' favorites for them to enjoy.
Be sure to read the back of your seed packets to find out if they should be planted indoors or sown outdoors (directly into the ground). Also check to see how long it takes for the plants to mature. This information will help you decide when to start your seedlings and how many to plant at one time.

Mark your seed trays so you can remember what each new seedling is. I put small plastic tags in each section of the tray marked with what we planted there. Then give your trays a good watering and wait. It won't be long till you and your young gardeners can see the new seedlings pushing through the soil.

Now to mark our young plants in the garden we created some simple plant markers using recycled materials.

Garden Markers
to dress up our garden we decided to "mark" the occasion with a fun and simple craft project.

You Will Need:
Plastic Container Lids (saved from butter tubs, sour cream, take-out drink cups etc.)
Craft Sticks
Hot Glue Gun
Assorted Sharpie Markers

My job as Mom was to cut-out simple plant shapes onto the back of the lids. We kept simple round shapes for the more difficult items like lettuce and basil. I labeled them all with a black sharpie so the plant name is clear and visible.

My kids decorated the plastic markers and sticks with permanent sharpie markers. The markers come in a variety of colors now as well as thick and fine point tips. We want these to get noticed in our garden rows.

Of course permanent markers will stain little fingers... but, eventually will wear off. At least they were supervised.

Then I hot glued the plastic cut-outs to the craft sticks. Simple, water-proof, frugal and cute. It is just one more way for my kids to be involved in our garden.

Not only will we be able to remember where we planted our vegetables, but my children will be able to identify their favorites based on the shapes.

*Disclaimer - I created this post as part of the DailyBuzz Moms March 9x9: Spring Fever theme. I was not compensated for this post and all the fun was my own. I am entered into a contest for the best post out of the group. All opinions and dirty fingernails were my own.
