Natasha Hemingway liked her life just the way it was... normal and supernatural-free. The vampires and shape-shifters were just where she wanted them to be--far away from her. All was going well until an unfortunate accident landed her in the hospital. It was then that she discovered she had an ability that could help her save countless lives. All of a sudden, she finds herself thrust into the dangerous and alluring world of the supernatural and into the arms of two very sexy and deadly vampires.

My review- This is not the typical vampire story I usually enjoy reading. There were no sparkles, no swooning... this story was gritty and raw. Far more complex than a typical romance. From the detectives in S.U.I.T., to the supernatural characters as well as some others, it is a string of murders that propels the action as we follow each lead to see who is connected, and how, to the grisly murders. So many characters, and so much to learn about them in one short book. They are all living in a world where the supernatural is out in the open, but not everyone is happy about that.
Truly the story laid out a lot of background and character building in the first half. Luckily, D.N. Simmons did a good job bringing it all together in the second, but don't be surprised when the pace of the book finally takes off. This story did get racey at times and is not for the feint of heart, but it was also not overly predictable either. I do look forward to seeing what comes next.
