Are You Oscar Ready? My Pics & Snacks from Wholly Guacamole & Daily's Cocktails

Wholly Guacamole

Ready to bring the red carpet into your home?

Yes, it is that time of year again. Will you be watching this year's Academy Awards? On February 24th, Sunday night, all of our favorite nominees will be going head to head for their chance to take home everyone's favorite little statue - a coveted Oscar.

I don't claim to be able to get away to the movie theater to watch all my favorite before the big night, but I still have some opinions on who will walk away with an award.

Best Picture: I think it will be between Lincoln and Le Miserables. I think Lincoln is a clear front runner, but Le Miserables has such an amazing production with a stellar cast, it is my second choice.

Best Actor: This is a tough one! So many favorites. I get the feeling that Hollywood would like Daniel Day Lewis to win for his role in Lincoln, but even action favorite Hugh Jackman may have a shot this time around. His role in Le Miserables really showed his acting chops. Who am I kidding, I would like one of the other guys to take it, but everyone loves a good character actor, so I am sticking with Daniel Day Lewis.

Best Actress: All great performances, but I don't have a clue this year... anyone want to venture a guess?

Best Animated Feature: I think Brave will win hands down. I believe Disney earned it and both my kids are huge fans, but can they take it away from Tim Burton and Frankenweenie?

Wholly Guacamole

Of course Oscar season has me in a movie mood. It is a great time to catch past winners on cable or rent one of the nominees to watch. In order to enjoy some great movie magic, Wholly Guacamole, Wholly Salsa and Daily's Cocktails sent me a kit to celebrate. This products make throwing an impromptu movie party a snap!

Wholly Salsa

I grabbed the red pepper mango Wholly Salsa, Homestyle Wholly Guacamole and whipped up a party platter of nachos. These are always a hit in our house... I love to throw in some black beans, various cheeses, but keep it simple and add lots of tasty dips so everyone can individualize their own.

The red pepper mango salsa was an amazing change from our usual. I would also love to use this on a fish taco night. The Wholly Guacamole had big fresh chunks of tomato and avocado. It was smooth and really hit the spot!

For a little adult appropriate fun, I also found Daily's Cocktails in my local Walmart. I love the single, ready to go pouches. Just pop in the freezer, break up in your hand and serve. My husband is a fan of Pina Coladas so this was for him. I saw many flavors to try once the baby is born.

Daily's Cocktails

So whip up a batch of nachos, maybe pop some popcorn, grab a drink and enjoy some great movies. You still have 2 full days of movie watching to get in before Oscar night!
