Want a cookie?
Chocolate chip cookies are such a staple in our home and I was surprised to find out they were invented right here in the US. Yeah, as American as apple pie, right?
Well, if you love chocolate chip cookies as much as I do (and I really, really do!) then you have a day to celebreate. National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day is coming up May 15th. It is the perfect time to bake up some classic cookies in your own home. Or make ahead, freeze and enjoy from now until you run out...
Now, you might notice I didn't say, 'buy' them. Chocolate chip cookies are so fast and easy to make, why not? That and the fact you can follow a great recipe and add in what you enjoy. Nuts? Milk Chocolate? Espresso Powder? They are your cookies, the sky's the limit.
I whipped up this batch using a new recipe. I found it on the Nielsen Massey website. I have to admit that I was impressed with how they turned out. They were chewey but crunchy around the edges. They were full of flavor and had great shape. I didn't have the classic issues of cookie spread and my husband declared them a winner.
I personalized my cookies with a mixture of Semi-Sweet and White Chocolate Chips.
I also added in Nielsen Massey's Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract.
It is good stuff.
Oh, would you like the recipe? Here is the Nielsen Massey Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. It is great as is, or mix in whatever you like. Nuts? More chips? Or how about dried cherries?
And since I think you really need to try these cookies with Nielsen Massey's extract, I have one bottle to give away to one lucky reader.
