I know the Christmas season has past, but this particular book would be a delight to read at any time of year. In truth, I love the magic of Christmas, and this book is the perfect fantasy for me to extend that magic into the new year.
I liked this book from the very beginning. Cora Crowder was a likable gal with a mission to find the right gift for her uncle. Fate takes her to a little known bookshop called Warner, Werner and Wizbotterdad's and a chance encounter with a co-worker named Simon Derrick. The bookshop is unusual ... and attended by two very unusual men. And so the stage is set for our story to unfold. The cover promises that
The writing is tinged with just enough mystery that by page 12 I knew it would be a late night and putting the book down would not be an option. But this 226 page novella is easy to finish in a evening. And I promise, you will want to. This story weaves together magic, fantasy and romance. Two completely different souls being brought together by some mischievous and magical matchmakers. Neither one knowing what they have been missing, till they meet the other.
I enjoy reading sweet stories and this one fit the bill. Heartwarming might be an even better way to describe it. The author, Donita K Paul, did a fabulous job of making her main characters very likable. I sympathized with Cora's painful past and trouble with her family life, as well as Simon's love for his family. I felt like rooting for them to be together! And who wouldn't want to find themselves at the Wizard's Ball? Such a magical way for these two to finally have a chance to be happy.
I recommend this book as a lovely read for those chilly winter evenings. I give it 4/5 stars.

Thank you for the review, Owen's Mom. I know another little boy named Owen who lives in CO. And I had an Uncle Owen. It is not such a common name now. I'm glad you liked the story. I hope I get to go back to Sage Street some day.
