Review - Baby Magic Patty Cake

Do you use baby powder on your little ones? I haven't. When my son was born it was one of the taboo items new Moms were warned against in baby books and baby magazines. The worry of aspiration was too great for small children.

Once my son started wearing soft heeled shoes, my Mother-in-Law showed me how helpful a little talcum powder can be to get tiny toes to slide into the leather. I still wasn't a fan of powder. Despite finding other great uses for baby powder like runner's chafe, I refrained from using it for the health of our lungs.

So, when I heard about Baby Magic's Patty Cake, a dustless baby powder, I was intrigued. I mean, my only real problem with conventional powder was the dust and mess.

This product is simple, but clever. The powder comes pressed in a compact which also hold a few disposable cotton pads for application. How unique is this? Well, it is the first patented dustless baby powder. Clean and easy to use, just swipe the pad over the pressed powder, apply and throw the pad away. The compact is a great size to fit into a purse, pocket or diaper bag with ease.

This product:
  • Is Water Repellent
  • Lubricating
  • Has Controlled Application
  • Has a Fresh Scent
  • Safe to Use
  • Talc Free
As far as mess goes, I was pleasantly surprised that the compressed powder held its form. Even when my toddler got a hold of the compact, there was no mess. And she really tried to scratch the cake. I know a bottle of regular talcum powder would not have fared as well against busy little fingers. Can you see the scratch marks on the surface?

Overall I am thrilled with this product and would recommend it to my friends and family. As I mentioned, it is good for more than just diapering my children, I plan to "borrow" some the next time I go for a run. The powder really does help with constant friction and is quick and easy to apply.

As for the Baby Magic brand, it has been around for over 60 years and the products are Hypoallergenic, Paraben Free and made in the USA. I would love to try their Lavender and Chamomile Calming Baby Bath. Take a look at the products for yourself to find the right fit for your family.
