Good morning Mamavation!
Ever had one of those week? Life throws in a few surprises? Family turns the world a little topsy-turvey? Loss, frustration and grief can trigger emotional eating, or it can help me re-focus on my fitness goals.
I have decided to re-focus. I am trying to hug my children more, play outside, get a good night's sleep and above all... MOVE!
Yesterday we stole a few minutes to pick blueberries. Picking with toddlers is never easy or boring! But, we all had a lot of fun.
We were picking the Draper variety. They have a very peachy flavor and are a huge juicy berry. I will be freezing bags of these for us to eat and enjoy throughout the year.
I will get a more basic variety, and smaller berry, for my blueberry butter and syrups.
My grandfather always placed a high importance on having a colorful plate, and these blueberries help me bring a little indigo or violet into our meals.
Besides blueberry pancakes, blueberry cobbler or just eating them fresh or froze, how do you like to eat these little blue berries??
This is going to be a short post. I hope to start reviewing some new workout DVDs next week and getting back to my recipe share.
As for my weekly weigh-in:
Hey, Lori!! I lost .6 lbs this week!
So, I guess you could say last week wasn't all bad, just stressful. This week though I hope to earn my losses and my vitamin D with a little more time outside playing.

What are the next big goals you want to tackle?
My ultimate weight goal is to reach 150 lbs. Besides that, I am looking to fit back into my size 10 ski clothes before the season starts this winter, and I am training for my first all running 5K.
I also am trying to reorganize our house and landscape our front yard. These projects keep getting pushed off as life gets in the way.

Mmmm, blueberries. We did not pick any yet this year. I am still working my way through our big freezer bags full from our picking journey last year. I love using my berries for blueberry muffins. Cannot get enough blueberry muffins! Also I make mixed berry jam (raspberry, blueberry and strawberry). Yum! {{HUGS}} for your week to come and a *high five to that 5K!
ReplyDeleteI love blueberries. Nice lose too sweetie. Keep up with amazing work and I am super proud of you.
ReplyDeleteMy son loves to eat handfuls, but me... I've tried and I just don't like them. Strawberries, raspberries I can do, but no blue berries for this girl. Good luck in your running adventures.
