I love growing herbs for my family! I was excited to review this particular book because I think anyone can raise their own herbs. Whether you have room for a backyard garden, for pots on a patio or back porch, or find a indoor kit to grow your own herbs in the kitchen, this book has some great tips to help you out.

Even with my garden, some of my herbs I still grow in pots. Mint for one tends to take over quickly, so I grow it in a large barrel on my front porch. I started out most of my current herbs in pots, crammed into a back area with no yard. So, I know it is possible for anyone to enjoy growing culinary herbs in containers.

The author, Anja Koch, has been growing and enjoying plants since her early teens. Her educational background is in landscape design and currently has an award winning gardening center and nursery business. This experience has taught her the challenges home gardeners face with gardening in general. On her website, http://www.gardening-advice.net/, she doles out advice with the help of Little Miss Greenfingers.

This book covers a range of topics anyone interested in container gardening with herbs will need to be successful. From where and how to grow herbs, care, harvesting and specific herb information, this book is a handy resource for the avid gardener.

I especially enjoyed the discussions on compost, seedlings and preserving and storing surplus herbs. I tend to get overrun and would love to use our own herbs year-long.

Some of the entries surprised me. I wouldn't have thought of adding Nasturtiums to my garden. I like the idea of adding color and didn't realize they were edible.

This book is a wealth of information. The table of contents make finding a topic easy and I enjoyed the Little Miss Greenfingers' highlighted boxes with important information. This makes not only a good and quick read, but also would be a great plant resource to refer back to time and again.

Overall I would highly recommend grabbing a copy of Gardening With Little Miss Greenfingers. I have been very happy with how much I have saved our family over the past few years by growing our own herbs. This year as I get ready to work in my garden, I will be referring back to this book to get even more out of my little plants.
