Did you catch the premier episode of Outlander last week? Oh, my! I just loved the cast they chose to bring ​Diana Gabaldon's series to life. Okay, it took me a few minutes to fall in love with the actor playing Jamie, ​Sam Heughan, but he has a gentleness that really fits the role. Though it might have been the mischevious way he threatened to throw Claire over his shoulders if she didn't come with him. Yeah, that was probably the moment I understood why he was cast in that role.

The rest was truly magically! The haunting music, the gorgeous location and the costume work was fabulous!

One real treat in the first episode was seeing an even more confident and stubborn Claire than I remember from the books. Little details like her giving the wrong foot as she was helped up the horse or how she reacted to the wet nurse comment made her an even stronger female character. My hats off to Caitriona Balfe and how she was written for the series.

My Little Mover Gives Me Reason To Celebrate

So much to do! Elliott is getting set to celebrate his 1st birthday this Friday and I can't believe how busy he is. From the moment he wakes up he is playing and crawling, standing and taking his first timid steps while I run along after him trying to tidy up the aftermath of his busy hands. Everyday seems like a new reason to celebrate him growing up.

I love watching him explore and learn about his world.

His most recent thing is to crawl into the floor swing to play. I will hear him giggling in the living room and know he has flopped down into his favorite spot, laughing as he goes back and forth.

I love watching him race across the floor after his big sister, big brother or our cat. He has mastered the crawl and have you ever seen a motivated baby? If he sees my iPhone the race is on! Thank goodness I can give him the freedom and room to explore without worrying if his diaper is up the challege.

Our Huggies Little Movers have a Snugfit wasteband that moves with Elliott whether he is laying down, climbing or trying to walk. I also like the Double Grip Strips on the sides and front that allow for a customizable fit. The velcro tabs don't rub or chaffe.  He is changing so fast everyday.  Even as he grows, I know I can count on his diapers to keep him dry and comfortable. And did you get a look at the adorable Mickey Mouse prints on the back? Love them.

I also love the fact I can pick them up on my trips to Target. I just love stocking up on baby supplies while I am there.

Now, I don't know if it is because Elliott is my third and final baby, but the transition from newborn to a full-fledge crawler seemed to go by in a blink. Now I expect him to take off running any day now.

Farm Fresh Kale and Turkey Pasta Recipe with Golden Grain Pasta

This post was sponsored by Golden Grain Pasta. I was asked to create a simple pasta dish with the holidays in mind and less than 8 ingredients. All opinions and experiences are my own.

Here on the farm we like to keep our meals simple and delicious. This recipe is perfect this time of year to use up leftover turkey from the holidays and only requires a few other pantry staples to get dinner done quickly. It is also the perfect holiday detox from rich food and sweet treats. 

Just simply sundried tomatoes, kale, garlic and turkey.

Farm Fresh Kale and Turkey Pasta

You Will Need:

• 1 box. Golden Grain Elbows
• 1 cup kale, ribs removed and coarsely chopped
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 2 Tbsp. olive oil
• 1 cup cubed turkey meat
• 1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes, drained
• salt and pepper to taste

Serves 4

Boil the pasta according to the directions on the box. In the last 2 minutes, add the chopped kale. Reserve 1/2 c. of the cooking water and set aside. Drain the pasta and kale thoroughly.

In the pot, saute the garlic in olive oil. Then add the cubed turkey and tomatoes. Toss and heat through. Add the pasta and kale back to the pot and add in a little of the cooking water as necessary to form a simple sauce. Season as you like and serve warm.

What Feeds Your Soul? An Oregon Chai Sweepstakes

After an exhausting week of busy nights and now kids getting over the Fall sniffles, I am ready for a Mommy recharge. When I am low on energy and need a little soul-recharging I turn to crafting - specifically knitting.

The first set of size 7 knitting needles were placed in my hands by a babysitter when I was 7. Fitting, right? For a long time that therapeutic clack of  plastic needles accompanied me everywhere. Even today I find the rhythm of knitting to be very calming and restful.

Currently on the needles? A baby blanket for Elliott, also a hat for him, a knitted pumpkin to decorate the house and waiting in the wings are a few projects I want to accomplish before my niece is born in January.

Always close at hand while I knit is a cup of something warm to drink. With the recent drop in temperature here, I have been grabbing a cup of Oregon Chai to keep me knitting and keep away the chill. My husband and I have also kept the lines of communication open with my son's teacher and principal about his medical issues. I am trying to be proactive from the start to hopefully avoid too many unnecessary frustration or problems.

Of course, I know I am not immune to something going wrong this year. For those times at least I can grab some Excedrin.

Spicing Up Game Day with Del Monte and Baked Egg Football Potatoes

Looking for a delicious and easy game day brunch or lunch recipe? These fun little stuffed potato footballs use Del Monte's new Southwestern-Style Petite Cut® Diced Tomatoes. A great way to spice up a simple egg and potato dish with no extra prep or fuss. Hands on cooking time and prep are very minimal.

Have you seen these new products on the shelf yet? With a choice between Del Monte® Petite Cut® Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies and Del Monte® Petite Cut® Diced Tomatoes with Chipotle Chilies, I went with the tomatoes and chilies to add just a little extra kick. I always love adding flavor to a recipe without extra calories.

I grew up watching the Super Bowl with my family every year. I am not the biggest football fan and don't really follow pro-games, but I am all in for the food and family fun of this yearly tradition. I love twice baked potatoes, and I adore a hearty meal of eggs and potatoes, so this combines the best of both worlds for me.

Do you have a favorite game day food?

I love the flavor and texture that oven baked potatoes give me. I am usually a foil gal, but after trying a simple olive oil and coarse salt rub, I am a convert! Just prick them and place on a baking sheet and they are ready to go.

Del Monte diced tomatoes allow me to offer my family flavorful tomatoes all year round. Our garden may be covered in ice, but I don't have to give up my Summer favorites. The majority of Del Monte products are picked at the peak of ripeness and canned on the same day, to ensure nutrients and flavor are locked in. They are a staple in my stocked pantry.

Ready to get cooking? You might be surprised how easy this recipe is to throw together, even for a large, hungry group.

Baked Egg Football Potatoes

You Will Need:

• 4 medium russet potatoes
• olive oil
• coarse salt

• 2 Tbsp. butter
• 3 Tbsp. sour cream
• 1 can Del Monte® Petite Cut® Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies
• 1/4 c. Monterey Jack Cheese
• 4 large eggs
• 1 slice cheddar cheese, cut into thin stripes
• salt and pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 330 degrees.

Scrub the potatoes and prick with a knife or fork. Rub each with olive oil and sprinkle with coarse salt. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 1 hour, or until the potatoes are tender. Take the potatoes out to cool slightly.

Turn up the oven to 350 degrees.

Hollow out each potato, take care not to cut through the skin. Place the flesh in a bowl. Add butter and sour cream, mash as preferred. Salt and pepper to taste. Add the Del Monte diced tomatoes and mix well. Place some of the filling back inside each potato, but leave enough room for a whole egg. Sprinkle the inside with cheese and add an egg.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the eggs are set as you desire. For the last minute, add those cheddar lines to the top. Allow the finished potatoes to cool slightly then top with more of the diced tomatoes and green chilies.
