It isn't always about doing what I want to,
but what I need to.
Another week... and my motivation was lagging. After a week of not losing weight, my family became sick and instead of progressing I felt like I was cleaning up, comforting and caring for others to the point of exhaustion. Of course as my workouts slipped and the bad snacks crept in, I felt worse. So on Thursday, despite the unusual snowfall in our little valley, I decided to remind myself about the big "D"... Dedication.
Success to me is a product of both hard work and dedication. Without both components it really isn't success... if I get lucky and lose weight but didn't work for it, there is always the chance I could have lost more... and without dedication I am not sure the weight will stay off. So I am back to the basics: pedometer, meal plan, water, workouts and sweat. I need to succeed for myself as well as my family.
MILI Challenge - Okay, after last week being rather disappointing I was hoping things would be better...
From last week (199.8 lbs) That is -1.6 lbs... and from 2 weeks ago (198.6 lbs) that is still -.4 lbs.
I'll take it!!
This Week's Recipe Share is for Egg Cups
you will need:
12 muffin tins & foil papers (or spray your tins with nonstick spray)
4 eggs
1/2 yellow onion
1 clove of garlic, minced or grated
1/2 a package of frozen spinach, thawed
chopped mushrooms
chopped ham or Canadian bacon
A dash of milk
Parmesan Cheese (optional)
Salt & pepper to taste
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line your muffin tins or spray them to prevent the eggs from sticking.
Chop the onion and add to a saute pan with a little olive oil over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and sweat these down till the onions are translucent. Add the garlic for an additional minute and then stir in the spinach and chopped meat. Warm the mixture through. In a separate bowl beat the eggs and add a dash of milk. Fill each muffin tin 1/2 - 2/3 full of the spinach mixture. There may be some left over. With a ladle or cup, divide the egg mixture evenly between the 12 cups. You can top with a little Parmesan Cheese and seasoning.
Bake for 20 minutes.I let them cool completely and put them in a freezer bag to either freeze or keep in the fridge for other mornings. Enjoy!

Question: What motivates you to get going and what keeps you going?
My children are my biggest motivators and the real reason why I want to lose this weight and become healthier. Honestly, the rest of my Mamavation Sistas have played a huge role in keeping me going. Without all the added support and encouragement I might have already given up. But, each day I check in on twitter, or read a fellow Mamavation Sista's blog I am pushed to keep going... and I am so happy to be part of a group that has such a positive influence in my life.

Nice job on your dedication. I LOVE that photo. That recipe also sounds really yummy. Too bad I am the only one in my family who eats eggs. Have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteWow, great thoughts! It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by Zig Ziglar, "Ability can take you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there." If it was pain-free and easy for us to lose weight in a matter of weeks instead of months, then when we finally reached our goals we would take it all for granted. Hard work is like putting scars into the skin -- it never leaves us! And we are forever changed because of it. I hope you have a great week ahead! :)
ReplyDeleteAre you seriously walking in the snow? YOu're my new idol!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, you still lost. Proud of you! Thanks for your support too.
Congrats on the weight loss! Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the dedication/motivation reminder. It's so hard to get going again when we have setbacks but we have to, that's what moms do, right?
Can you reheat the egg cups in the microwave or do you warm them in the oven before you eat them? Or do you just eat them cold? I definitely would like to give this a try for afternoon grab and goes.
Okay again I love the recipe shares...I would so love to share to if I could plan and manage my time better. I have to mince all veggies inti almost non existing pieces to get my kids to eat them.
ReplyDeleteI have to keep reminding myself that I didn't put this weight on overnight...and you are so right about the dedication needed. Hopefully you can pull on those striped socks and feel the motivation and pushing I am sending your way. You can do it!
Last week was a recovery week for me after caring for sick family too. It took a lot out of me and I put on some pounds that I luckily lost. You will get back in your groove, no doubt about it. And ha ha funny, I also do frittatas in muffin tins like this too (I have a feeling we would be good potluck buddies).
ReplyDeleteWalking in the cold and snow with a dog and a stroller?! Total bad ass. And congrats on the loss!
ReplyDeleteOut in the snow? Oh my goodness, you're my hero! Keep up the great work. Dedication is so huge!
ReplyDeleteGreat walk in the snow! You're awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I can't get myself to walk in the snow. I'm such a pansy! LOL Keep going with the weight loss!! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!! Great job! Even though you didn't get all your workouts in, you were definitely not sitting on your behind while taking care of your family.
ReplyDeleteSO proud of you for putting your big girl panties on and getting out there in the snow. You are a rockstar!!
I'm impressed with your dedication!! That's great that you're getting back to the basics - they are the basics for a reason... Way to go on your weight loss this week & thanks for all your support!!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I feel like giving up I have to remind myself of what I'm working towards and why. I think you're doing a wonderful job at juggling whatever life throws your way. You are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI wanna try those egg cups. Do you think they would be good with just the whites?
