#Mamavation Monday - Gonna Make You Sweat!

Anyone else feel like life is on fast forward?

So much going on right now! Warmer days, challenges and fitness goals have me sweating and feeling great. I am excited to support the Mamavation Mom applicants with hazing circuits, I am started the C25K in order to join in on our virtual 5K (June 30th!) and I am beginning P90x.

Last week my DVDs arrived and I had planned to jump right in, but soon realized I needed to prepare and make a game plan. The set comes with menu ideas and tips and a fitness test to take before starting. The fitness test is not anything most Mamavation gals couldn't handle. If you push through Stephanie's circuits, you are good to go. Unfortunately, my kitchen wasn't ready for the food needs of the program. I need more greens, salad fixings and easy fruit to grab.

I will be going for the 1800 calorie plan to start and see how I feel. Depending on my energy level and fatigue I might need to tweak that. This program requires more calories, so if that number sounds high, don't be alarmed. I am grateful to have a few protein powders to try and love the new Silk Fruit& Protein drink. I have been using it in my smoothies along with some greens and almond butter. Yum!

I am still working on my own personal challenge for whole food/ real food eating. The biggest exception right now is the protein powder. Everything else I am trying to keep sauce, cream, sugar and additive free. It is simple eating, but it is fast and I feel great. My favorite new grain is quinoa. I am excited to get up a new recipe soon for a Roasted Butternut Squash, Kale and Quinoa Bowl.

Here is a sample menu:
Breakfast - Mushroom omelet, Strawberry & Greek yogurt parfait
Snack - Protein Shake
Lunch - Chef Salad
Snack - Low-fat String Cheese & Cashews
Dinner - Beef & Broccoli Stir- Fry over brown rice & Miso Soup.

Next week I hope to have it all worked out for batch cooking with the week's food ready to go in the freezer and fridge.

And in totally awesome news this week..... I LOST 2.1 lbs!!!
I have been working hard to cut out random eating, sugar, processed junk and only buy ingredients. My next mountain to conquer will be getting my Chinese Food fix in by tweaking some of my favorite recipes.

I am very excited about this week's chat at Mamavation Monday TV because I have had a life-long battle with skin issues. I get irritated easily, dry out easily and have tried about every prescription lotion or cream since I was 11. The only thing that seems to be working for me is the oil cleansing method, mentioned a few weeks back. I used Flax Seed Oil to cleanse and moisturize now and it seems to be helping. But exercise induced plugged pores? Ack... I still struggle with this.

  1. P90X was super hard, but the workouts were great! Sadly I didn't stick with it, the food portion was a little too strict, and I couldn't make myself keep on track. Good luck with it, can't wait to hear about your experience!

  2. Hubby is started P90X this week. I did it before and really liked it. I didn't do the diet on it either.

I've had some real issues with dry skin recently. I'm excited to hear what Motion Medica has to say about that. :)

Congrats on the 2.1 pound loss! Keep up the good work!

  4. You are an inspiration! My friend did PX90 and wants me to do it with her, but I don't quite feel that I'm ready.., but that's my goal to get there!
Constantly tweaking your diet I think is key to any weight loss but it's soo hard. I work with a very minimal grocery budget, and finding healthy, more natural foods and recipes that my kids will eat is a bit of a challenge. My goal for the remaining amount of the month is to start pre prep for a week of meals at a time.., I just have to get organized.
    Thanks for the inspiration!

  8. Yay! That is so awesome for you! I always feel like life is on fast forward. There is always so much to do and not enough time to do it. Recently, I've decided that I need to take a deep breath and step back and do what I can. I always feel so anxious when I don't get done what is needed to be done. Thanks for the inspiration!

  10. Congratulations on your weight loss! That is awesome! I think it's a great idea that you put the DVDs on hold until the kitchen was ready to go too. I wish I had done that the first time I tried! I know you will do an awesome job getting through P90X, and your body will so thank you for it!
