5-Hour Energy - Yummification Winners Announced!

This post was sponsored by 5-hour ENERGY® with samples, a gift card, information about the "Yummification" video contest , and an additional gift pack provided by the makers of 5-hour ENERGY®. All opinions and experiences are mine alone.

Do you remember when I mixed up my own little Pineapple Coconut Splash in the name of 5-Hour Energy's Yummification contest?

Well, the winners have been announced and I wanted to share all the delicious and creative recipes that caught the eye of the judges!

First Place ($50,000 prize): “Pomelimelade” by Tim Merlau, Los Angeles, CA
This winning submission mixes a Pomegranate 5-hour ENERGY® shot with limeade, and then takes us on a musical journey through all that can be accomplished over several hours (spoiler alert:  it’s a lot).

You have to check out their clever and unique video. I can see why he won, and I will have to try out this winning combination. I think it will make you want to have a "Pomelimelade" as well.

And the 2nd and 3rd place winners are:

Second Place ($30,000 prize): “Ramalamadingdong” by Mark Golembeski, Los Angeles, CA
o   The second place video helps us turn that 2:30 feeling frown upside down by mixing a 5-hour ENERGY® shot with lemonade.  This video has it all: a clown, a puppy, a guy in a tutu, and much more.
o   “Ramalamadingdong”
§  1 glass Lemonade
§  1 shot of Berry 5-hour ENERGY®

·         Third Place ($10,000 prize): “Arnold Power” by Zac Sheorn, Lugoff, SC
o   The third place winner reminds us that you don’t have to be good at sports, but mixing a Pink Lemonade 5-hour ENERGY® shot with decaffeinated iced tea helps keep you refreshed while practicing.  And practicing.
o   “Arnold Power”
§  1 glass Decaf Iced Tea
§  1 shot of Pink Lemonade 5-hour ENERGY®

Mixing Up a Pineapple Coconut Splash 5-hour ENERGY Afternoon

This post was sponsored by 5-hour ENERGY® with samples, a gift card, information about the "Yummification" video contest , and an additional gift pack provided by the makers of 5-hour ENERGY®. All opinions and experiences are mine alone.

Busy mornings, usually are followed by even busier afternoons around here. While the kids are down napping I like to mix up a refreshing drink and take a moment to relax before the house comes alive again and the chorus of "Mommy!", "Mom" or "Can I have a..." starts back up.

Though I have never been an energy drink sorta gal in the past, I have a little mix that always hits the spot. I like to call it my Pineapple Coconut Splash! ... if you haven't guessed, the "splash" is my favorite Pomegranate 5-hour Energy flavor.

I just love the sweetness from pineapple juice, and I like refreshing coconut water. Pairing those with a 5-hour Energy... with the caffeine equivalent to a cup of premium coffee, it is a nice way to prepare to face the latter half of my crazy days. Besides helping me feel alert, 5-hour ENERGY contains a blend of B-vitamins, amino acids, and essential nutrients

Mix and pour over ice.

Simple right? Well, simple is oh, so good!

If you think you have a drink as good as my Pineapple Coconut Splash, or even better,  submit your drink entry in the 5-hour ENERGY® Yummification Contest. One grand prize winner will receive $50,000!

Chillin' Out With Keurig Brew Over Ice Review + Giveaway

*Disclaimer - I was sent a welcome kit as part of the Keurig Brew Crew blogger program for my review. All opinions and experiences are my own.

Life on the farm gets awfully hot, awfully fast around here. Today my husband is out cutting hay and I know when he comes in the first thing he will reach for is a tall drink of something cold.

Me? I think Summer is the perfect reason to keep a tall, cold cup of iced tea or iced coffee handy. Of course, I have the tendency to knock back an entire pitcher myself so when my husband comes home I am hard pressed to have any to share.

That was one reason why we bought our Keurig. My husband and I are never ready for our cup of coffee at the same time, so now we can make it fresh on demand. With the growing selection of brew over ice K-cups from Keurig, our cold tea, coffee and vitamin drinks have gotten even faster to make.

Just put a K-Cup in the brewer as usual, fill up an insulated cup with ice and dispense the brew into the cup. I gave mine a few stirs to cool it down and then I was good to sip.

I was not only delighted to see more cold options, but my husband was thrilled to see his favorite Snapple flavored iced teas were in on the fun. Now we don't have to agree on what to drink. I can have my iced coffee, if I choose, and he can have his Snapple.

The vitamin burst, strawberry pomegranate was delicious! It was my first time trying one of these. It makes a fun alternative to the standard coffee or tea from the Keurig.

The Doughnut Shop Sweet and Creamy iced coffee was delicious. Just the perfect way to perk up my busy Summer afternoon. It really was smooth and flavorful enough for me to want to savor every sip.

How About a Little Kick with Your Veggies? V8 V-Fusion® + Energy

I am a busy Mom and am not usually a fan of energy drinks. I enjoy my cup of coffee, and try my best to stay awake naturally. But when I heard about V8 V-Fusion® + Energy, I was intrigued. I am a big fan of the classic V8 juice and the thought of an energy drink with a serving of vegetables and fruit in it sounded like a great idea!

I found V8 V-Fusion® + Energy in my local Safeway in the juice aisle. They had both the Pomegranate Blueberry flavor and the Peach Mango. Of course, I had to grab a case of each to try. Both are only 50 calories.

I tried both flavors and enjoyed the Pomegranate Blueberry the best. My husband was also impressed with the taste. He is more the energy drink afficianado. The flavor wasn't what I have come to expect from energy drinks, there was no medicinal taste at all. I served mine over ice and it was smooth and enjoyable. Stronger than their juices, but sweeter and easier to drink than other energy products I have tried. I think that is why I usually shy away from them energy drink options.

I could definitely taste the juice coming through in this V8 product. The vegetable nutrition is what sets this product apart.

The energy is supplied from natural green tea, which I am already a fan of, so I didn't notice any adverse affects from the caffeine. I like green tea because it is slow releasing caffeine and sustains me for longer periods of time.

Did I notice more energy after drinking a can? A little. I am okay with that. I am not looking for any serious boosting, just a little nudge to help me through my afternoon and to keep up with my children.

Don't worry. Now that I am pregnant my husband gets all the V8 V-Fusion® + Energy to himself.

Lucky guy.
