You Will Flip for Purex® PowerShot Detergent

Disclaimer - I received sample laundry detergent and coupons to try from Purex as part of the Purex Insiders Program. All experiences and opinions are my own and were not influenced by the product I received.

Every get tired of scooping?

I know it is a simple thing, but seems like more often than not I am startled by a crash, a yell, a cry mid scoop. Somehow things get messier in my laundry room than intended and well, detergent gets spilled wasted... or worse, over scooped.

I do 3+ loads of laundry with a farm based family of 5 so I don't like to waste detergent. I also do a whole lotta scooping.

I think Purex must have heard my wishes and they are turning their detergent upside down.

Well, literally.

The new Purex® PowerShot Detergent doesn't come with the standard scoop... or measuring cap... You just flip and pour the perfect amount. Yeah, every. time. Auto dosing takes one more step out of my day and with little laundry helpers on the horizon, I love a chance to cut down on the waste.

Super concentrated, using it is easy...

Just Flip. Dose, Done.

And how did it work? Well, besides being super easy and "no scoop necessary", it held up well to our touch dirt, grease and general kid grime and food stains. Yeah, Purex takes good care of our clothing.

I enjoyed it so much, I had to share this product with friends. a big thank you to Purex for sharing coupons.

Vacation Blues... or Pinks, No More! With Purex No Sort

I received free a sample and promotional information about the Purex No Sort Laundry Detergent as a Purex Insider. All opinions and experiences are my own.

I love going on vacation with my family. I hate having to come home.

With the mountains of dirty laundry and all the items I have to unpack, sorting the whites, brights, darks and others is such a hassle. Yes, my mama always stressed how important sorting is.

Okay, during my early twenties I tried to buck the sorting habbit. It didn't end well. College laundry? Yes, you really can turn all your whites pink with one pair of red socks. And I promise it isn't a good pink...nor is it consistently dyed. No, I learned my lesson with splotchy pink and spotted clothes.

Purex must have heard my secret wish though and recently unveiled a detergent that has anti-color transfer technology. White T-shirts can now co-mingle with my purple sweatshirt and khaki shorts. Talk about a color party.

I put this to the test after vacation this past weekend. It was the perfect way to cut down on my laundry time. I still sorted all the delicates and heavy items so nothing was stretched or ripped, but colors didn't hold me back anymore.

Seriously, why hasn't someone done this before?

And isn't this the perfect detergent for teaching my oldest to do the laundry? Okay, I still plan to teach him how to sort, but this will be my insurance policy against those nasty pink shirts.

Fels Naptha Soap - A Great Laundry Solution Giveaway

* Disclaimer - Purex provided me with a sample of Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and laundry experiences are my own.

Ever come across this little unassuming bar of laundry soap on the store shelves?

I think I have learned more about what the laundry aisle holds since my children were born. Not only that, but my husband likes to hunt, he works outside and in the shop as a farmer and we have animals. It makes for some pretty funky laundry situations.

When I heard about Purex Fels-Naptha soap, a laundry bar and stain remover, I wanted to try it. When it arrived I gushed to my husband about how economical this product was. He didn't even look up from his lunch. He just said, "yeah, we used to use that for poison oak when I was growing up."

Upon further investigation I learned that Fels-Naptha soap is pretty hard working and has been used to cut through the oils of poison oak and poison ivy in clothing. It is also pretty tough on stains and can be used to treat a stubborn stain, or be grated up and used as a laundry soap.

All that from a simple little bar of soap? Yes. One simple bar.

Fels-Naptha is different from its competitors. The active ingredient of benzene solvent cuts through grease and cleans surfaces. For over 100 years it has fought America's toughest stains. Always hard on dirt and grease, just wet the bar and rub right on the stain then launder as usual.

I added my bar to the laundry room utility sink. It proudly sits next to the GoJo, which is fine - Fels-Naptha can be an eye or skin irritant. It is the perfect way to fight all those tractor grease stains in my husband's work clothing, or mystery messes from my children that get hidden in the bottom of my laundry pile.

How did it work? Great! I used gloves when I treated my clothing, but I also have very sensitive skin. The bar is a great shape (long and thin) for easy gripping and allowed me to control exactly where I applied the stain treatment. As an added Mom bonus, I found it worked amazingly well on those pesky spit-up stains that seem to be all over my shirts these days.

So, if you are looking for a heavy duty and multi-purpose laundry solution, give Purex Fels-Naptha Soap a try on laundry day.

Would you like to try out a bar of Purex Fels-Naptha Soap for yourself?

Giveaway Time!!
I have 3 coupons to send to 3 lucky readers for a free bar of Purex Fels-Naptha soap. You must be 18 years or older to enter and within the US. The giveaway will end 9/10 at midnight PST. Enter on the Rafflecopter widget below. Good luck!

Summer Fashion: It's Just "Better Together"

Disclosure: This post is part of a DailyBuzz Moms Tastemaker program with P&G. All opinions and experiences are my own.

Laundry.

Do we ever escape those constantly growing mountains of dirty laundry piled high in the laundry room? Well, considering I will be adding baby #3 to the mix later this week (EEEEKKK!!!) I don't see an end to my laundry duty anytime soon. As it is, living on a farm I have a massive amount of laundry to do daily.

Now, P&G laundry products are nothing new in our home, but we haven't used them for a while because we switched to all fragrance free formulas. Both my husband and son have very sensitive skin. I had no idea that Downy came in a "free" version until recently and thrilled to find Tide, Downy and Bounce 'Free' formulas - no dyes, no perfume - available at Target. Yay!

Just as every member of my family has their own Summer clothing preference, like my husband's non-cotton shirts and Carhart work jeans, or my daughter's light-up shoes, twirly skirt and bright tank top, the combination of Tide + Downy + bounce is just, "Better Together"!

Yes, after my family members find the perfect balance of cool, comfortable and their own personal style, it is my job to keep those clothes clean and looking their best. With a son who prefers digging in the dirt to being clean, and many hours of spit-up and baby messes in my own future this can be a real challenge.

To start with, I love that Tide is such a great stain fighter.

Downy helps to keep our clothing soft and I have been using bounce since I was a child to cut-down on static cling in the dryer. I will agree that these products are just better together!

This Summer I am all about vibrant colors paired with a long maxi shirt. I like to have a few jacket or light sweater options for cool evenings out. I also have those adorable little pearl peas-in-a-pod necklaces on my wish-list to celebrate each of my children. Add to the ensemble a big floppy hat, sunglasses and cute embellished sandals and I think I would be ready for just about any event or playdate.

This coral nursing top caught my eye, but with a new baby I will be sporting a fair amount of spit-up and constantly doing laundry. Usually that wreaks havoc on bright vivid colors, right?

My "Better Together" Summer Style

Happily, I have been washing away the messes without washing out the colors of my favorite clothes. Add to that how affordable the prices are at Target and this Mom is a happy camper.

So, what is your go-to outfit this Summer season? And how do you keep them looking their best?

It's Laundry Day! With Borax

laundry booster

Actually, around here everyday is laundry day!

I have two young children, a baby on the way, a farming husband (think lots of mud, grease & dirt!), we have a cat & dog, I clean with rags, cloth diaper and even make a mess or two myself.

I think my washer just might be my most prized appliance in the house, I really couldn't be without it. We recently had to replace our front loader, when it gave up the ghost, and settled on a top loader. No, it isn't my Mom's top loader. It is energy efficient with a revamped middle agitator that is easier on our clothes, but does the scrubbing we need. To span the great divide of needs between farm clothing to cloth diapers, with delicates in between, I couldn't be happier.

Unfortunately, no new-fangled washer can help me with our water issues. We have well water. Though, I do enjoy the taste for drinking, it has a nasty habit of leaving spots on our dishes, rings around our tubs and sediment in our clothing. Hard water contains calcium and magnesium. I have noticed the biggest signs in our cloth diapers. After moving I had to "strip" them more often and found they didn't absorb like they should. Hard water can make your laundry detergent less effective.

#Borax

What has helped me has been simplifying my laundry routine. I use a very simple pure and clear detergent that doesn't leave any residue or oils and I add just a 1/2 cup of Borax to my laundry.

Borax? Yes, another thing your mom or grandmother might be more familiar with. You might remember that I have used it for science experiments (Alien Snot) and have talked about using it around the house to clean the bathroom, etc. It is also a great help with battling against our hard water.

Borax is sodium tetraborate. It naturally occurs when seasonal lakes evaporate and is a 100% natural mineral from the earth. Nothing has to be added to it. It is just washed, dried and boxed up for sale. This is one reason why it is such a frugal choice!

When I was showing white racing homers (pigeons), we would add a little to the bathwater to get stains out of their feathers. It helped to get the birds beautiful and white again.

Sometimes simple is the best solution and Borax is a simple product that has made a place for itself in my home. It isn't expensive and goes a long way to make my whites come out whiter and all of the stains of our lives be forgotten from our clothes.

Would you like to try Borax for yourself? As a Purex Insider I have 3 coupons to give away to 2 lucky readers here at Adventures in All Things Food. See details below. If you are like me, the messes in the kitchen alone will give you cause to try out this stain fighter.

Also be sure to enter the Fresh Year, Fresh Laundry Contest going on right now with Borax on Facebook. You could win a Grand Prize of $1,500 or FREE Borax.

Giveaway Time!!

Review - Purex Triple Action Liquid Detergent

Got laundry?

I do! I do!! ... a lot of it actually.

Can you tell me how 4 people, who wear clothing and pj's daily, can create a mountain of laundry for me to face every morning? Multiple loads, tons of food stains courtesy of my busy toddlers and a farming husband, keep me busy all day and usually folding into the evening.

As a Purex Insider I am always eager to try out their new products. I'm looking for detergents that are not only cost effective but extend the life of my children's clothes. Those shirts and pant knees take quite a beating!

The new Triple Action Laundry Detergent does both of those things.

Using the best parts of Purex's cleaning formula this product is half the price of the leading brand. Doesn't that sound great? Well, especially if you are running the washer from sun up to sun down like me.

I was sent a bottle of Free and Clear, and there is also Mountain Breeze scent. Our home is fragrance free due to my husband's sensitivities, but look for the new formula to be rolled out across the entire line this fall, so you will be able to find you favorite soon.

Safe for High Efficiency (HE) washers, a little goes a long way. I have used the smallest amount on all our loads and have been happy with the results. Most of my children's stains have become just memories.

As usual Purex has made me a happy mama... now if only they could come over to do my laundry for me I would be on cloud nine. Until then I'll be happy to just keep up to date with their latest and greatest products. "Pureclean. Purevalue. Purex."
